This holiday weekend looked a little different aro

This holiday weekend looked a little different around here… and I think I’m okay with that. ❤️🤍💙

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I’m feeling especially grateful. I’m a proud 9th-generation Santa Barbaran on one side of my family, with roots here dating back to the late 1700s, and the granddaughter of French immigrants who came through Ellis Island on the other. Those stories remind me that this country has always been shaped by people from different backgrounds, bringing their dreams, traditions, and hard work together. That’s something I’ll always appreciate.

This year, my daughter spent the Fourth with her friends (another reminder she’s growing up!), which meant my holiday looked different too.

I slept in.
I baked fresh bread.
I spent time in the garden.
I cleaned the house.
I enjoyed a quiet evening at home with family… and yes, I happily skipped the fireworks. 🎆 They’re just not my thing, and it was the perfect excuse to enjoy a peaceful night instead.

Last week was full of business, networking, and creating. Next week will be too. So this weekend was a reminder that sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply be present with the people we love—and ourselves.

I hope your holiday weekend gave you exactly what you needed, whether that was adventure, laughter, family traditions, travel, rest, or a little quiet.

Tonight’s walk through First Thursday in downtown Santa Barbara was filled with so much fun, networking, and meeting some truly amazing women doing incredible things. I even ran into the wonderful Darla Bea—always a fun surprise! 💛

I also discovered a few new local businesses that I’m already excited to share with you during my annual 12 Days of Christmas Supporting Local Businesses series this year. 🎄🎁

There is something special about slowing down, wandering downtown, making connections, and being reminded just how many wonderful people and businesses make our community shine.
